The European Organisation for Strategic Planning, in the frame of active support of the role of the Local Self-government in E.U. and awaiting the assumption of the Presidency of E.U. by Greece in the first semester of 2003, organised on 7th April 2002 in Nafplio the "1st Conference for Local Self-government of Peloponnese" with subject:

"LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT - ENTREPRENEURSHIP, GOVERNMENT - MODERNISATION - ACTIVE CITIZENS"

Distinguished persons from the academic sector and the Local Self-government, top political factors, representatives of bodies and organisations, stated their opinions and proposals with objectives:

1. Strengthening of the role of the Local Self-government
2. Bridging the relations of Local Self-government bodies and private sector
3. Creation and efficient intervention of the Local Self-government in the operation and improvement of works of private enterprises. Interventions on local level with the utilisation of resources
4. Modernisation of operations and services of the Public Sector. Improvement of Provisions.
5. Drastic participation of citizens in issues concerning Local Self-government and the function of their entities.
